In celebration of our FIFTH wedding anniversary and Steve's THIRTY-FIFTH birthday, Steve and I spent a long weekend together in Newport, RI. It was our first time in Newport and our first time away from Claire. (Claire and Starla stayed with my family in North Jersey) The weather was gorgeous and we had a blast touring the city. We spent our vacation eating seafood (OYSTER SHOOTERS!...LOBSTER...CRAB...$50 KOBE BEEF BURGER?!), drinking, shopping, playing "What Do You Think Claire Is Doing Right Now?", touring mansions, hiking the famous 4 mile "Cliff Walk" that winds its way behind the mansions and along the Atlantic coast, listening to live music, sailing on a 71 foot Schooner on the Naragansett, sampling local wines....It was a full four days! We left with our bellies full, our wallets empty, and both of us dying to get our hands on our little girl!

She was the best baby..
Starl'o', as Livi calls her, was good, too. :)
Okay, I had to google Kobe beef to find out what made that burger so expensive...and why it made Steve looks so devious! Other than learning that it is beef from a Japanese cattle, I also learned that Kobe Bryant was named after Kobe Beef!!! Apparently his father ate a great steak when he was in Japan and, with a pregnant wife at home, inspiration struck. Who knew? What did we do before Google?
Your trip looks like it was amazing. Glad you guys were able to get away...happy anniversary to you both and happy b-day, Steve!
Wait one hot minute. Is that Kobe Beef/Kobe Bryant story true?
Yup. (according to several reputable websites)
It's a good thing Kobe's dad went for the beef..."Tempura Bryant" or "Shitake Bryant" just doesn't have the same ring.
