Claire is 10 weeks old today!

Physically she is filling out (Look at those cheeks!) and getting longer. She finally is fitting in some of the cute clothes that have been hanging in her closet, just waiting to be worn. Poor kid, I treat her like my little doll and dress her up in different outfits! Her eyelashes have gotten really long and curl up on the ends and her once dark blue eyes are starting to lighten up a bit. She has a big deep dimple on her left side that really shows when she smiles (Grandmom McQuaid swears it's the only recognizable thing that Claire has inherited from her!) and her nose wrinkles up when the smiles are really big. It just melts your heart!

Our pediatrician has told us to gage developmental growth according to her due date, not her birthdate. So basically we should be expecting her to hit the milestones of a 3 week old, not necesssarily a 10 week old. It's true we've noticed immaturity in some of her development, but she's really coming along in most areas! Claire has discovered her arms and legs. Put her on the floor and those arms and legs get moving and kicking! Today on her activity mat she focused in on the hanging toys. Up until this point she hasn't really seemed to notice them, or has gone cross eyed trying to see them! Today though she stared at them forever and even gave the pineapple man a swat and smiled as he swung back and forth. She still has her apnea monitor, but the episodes have definitely decreased. The monitor is both a blessing and a curse....it gives us peace of mind, but it is such a pain to carry around all the time! Plus her constant wiggling around pulls the probes off her giving us many false alarms in the middle of the night. Sleep is still an issue. Can you die of exhaustion? If so, my days are numbered. Cross you fingers and say a prayer that sleeping through the night is just around the corner!
