Keira is doing much better. Thank all of you for your prayers! After being put back on CPAP, getting started on the antibiotics, and receiving a blood transfusion, Keira has begun to show improvements. The doctors aren't exactly sure which of these accomodations helped her, but the important thing is that it did! There is still no sign of infection, so the doctors are leaning towards believing that last night's episode was a result of her preemie body becoming too fatigued to breathe with just the nasal cannula. They are going to keep her on the CPAP until she shows signs of getting some of her strength back. Her breastmilk feedings are going to restart tomorrow morning as long as she remains stable through the night. In the meantime they are going to continue testing her for every infection under the sun to make sure that they are not missing anything that would need immediate treatment. Steve and I are both relieved that Keira is doing better, but it is just so unsettling how quickly things can change. I'll keep you posted.

So glad to hear she's doing better! We'll keep sending good thoughts her way...
You have been so strong throughout this whole journey. There are so many ups and downs but in the end Keira always comes out fighting. Always remember that.
Corey and Steve, I can relate to the sign from above. About 15 years ago, my granddaughter had surgery for a tumor on her optic nerve. She was in surgery for about 8 hours. At 3 years old she looked so pitiful. Hooked up to a lot of machines and they also had to shave the front part of her hair. From that day foreward she has been blind or as she corrects me "visually impaired'. Anyway, we didn't know if they got all the tumor or just what to expect next. I went down to get something to eat and just happened to pass by the Chapel. I went in and prayed and asked for a sign. Going back up in the elevator, there was a family with 2 beautiful girls. I just had to speak to the oldest one and she was very polite and then I ask her, her name. It was Kristin, same as my granddaughter and her sister's name was Caitlin. This is where it got weird. My kristin's make believe friend was Caitlin. It still gives me goose bumps. Might not mean much to someone else, but to me it was what I needed. My Kristin is just fine now. Nothing wrong with her except her visual problem. She just graduated from high school last week and is going to our local techinal college in the fall. Love you all. We have you in our thoughts and prayers.

You guys are so strong and that little girl is too. You all are always in my thoughts and prayers. That one is a fighter and it just amazes me how much these little ones can do. Keep your spirits high as they and take it one day at a time. My Love, Mary Lucash
