Two exciting things happened this weekend...........
1. KEIRA IS OFF CPAP! She is back on the nasal cannula and we are crossing our fingers and toes that this time there is no going back.
2. KEIRA WEIGHS FOUR POUNDS! Yup, as of this morning our little girl hit the four pound mark.
Unfortunately some potential bad news follows up this good news, but nothing is for certain at the moment. The fact remains that Keira's lungs are not showing any improvement. They are not showing any worsening either, but serious improvement is needed in order for Keira to come home. Dr. T explained to me that unless significant change is observed in the lungs over the next couple of weeks, Keira will have to go to CHOP to be seen by a pulmonary specialist. From there further, more specific, assessments will be made to see if her lung disease is a congenital problem rather than just a result of her prematurity. We've known that her lungs have been a persistant problem, but to hear the doctor talk about it was a sobering reminder how serious this really is. Yes, Keira's overcome so much so far, but in a way her road to a full recovery is still a long bumpy one. I hope we are prepared for the ride.

Uncle Double Tooth and his clan are ecstatic over the weight gain! We knew Keira was a fighter from day one, and honestly feel she'll battle whatever may come her way. You and your family remain in our thoughts and prayers.

Corey and Steve.....your sweet little Kiera is in my daily thoughts and prayers. I am praying that her lungs improve, but know that if she has to be moved to CHOP, she will be in great care and an answer will be found.

All of our love and support....
